A Wealth of Learning Experiences and a Strong Academic Program
Westgate Elementary School offers children in Early Childhood through grade 5 a wealth of varied learning experiences. Westgate is home this year to 592 students, 576 in kindergarten through grade 5 and 16 in District 25's Early Childhood Program. The Early Childhood Program offers special education services to children three to six years of age with learning or developmental delays.
Westgate has an established and successful educational program that includes both single-age and multi-age classes. Kindergarten children are placed together in single-grade kindergarten classes. Beginning in grade 1, children may be placed in single-grade classes or in multi-age classes incorporating two grades into one classroom.
Westgate staff members work with parents to ensure that all children are placed in classrooms that meet their needs. The emphasis at Westgate is on providing developmentally appropriate hands-on instruction that children view as purposeful and relevant, where children are motivated and invested in their learning.
For a discussion of curriculum, special services, and other programs, see District 25 program information.
Westgate is a CHARACTER COUNTS!SM school and focuses student attention on the six pillars of good character: trustworthiness, caring, responsibility, fairness, citizenship, and respect.
Before- and after-school care
Before- and after-school care is available at Westgate through the CAP (Children at Play) program, run by the Arlington Heights Park District.
After fifth grade

PTA
Westgate has an active PTA (Parent Teacher Association), which works to foster close relations between home and school. The PTA is run by volunteers and welcomes parents to attend meetings and participate in its varied activities. For more information, please call the school.
