Polar Bear

Description

The Polar Bear is part of the bear family. Polar Bears are called Sea Bear for short. They are warm-blooded mammals. The female Polar Bear can weigh about 660 pounds. Polar Bears also have short tails and sharp teeth. They have black skin but it looks white. Also the Polar Bear is a vertebrate. The Polar Bear is not endangered.

Habitat, Predators & Prey

Polar Bears are found in Alaska, Russia, The Arctic Ocean, Norway,Greenland,and Canada. They also can be found on ice and snow. The Polar Bear migrates to the sea for seal meat.They wait at breathing holes for seals. Breathing holes are cracks in the ice that seals put their heads through for air. Polar Bears also hibernate, they hibernate in the snow to lay their babies. The Polar Bear eats alone and does not live in groups.

Life Cycle

A mother Polar Bear's babies are born live. She usually has twin babies. Polar Bear babies are born in snow. Polar Bear mothers raise the babies for three years. The Polar Bear babies are 1.5 pounds when they are born.Babies are called cubs.
